Friedrich’s

works

An overview of the stainless steel sculptures

Animal sculptures, abstract figures, accessories and jewellery – Friedrich has already painstakingly handcrafted numerous stainless steel sculptures, some to customer specifications, most the product of his own inspiration, but all with an eye for detail, with sensitivity and dedication.

Outdoor pieces

Friedrich creates a monument to times past with a rock crystal: for his sculpture of “frozen ice”, as the Romans called it, Friedrich was inspired by the Schneeberg mine, thus emphasising the special features of our habitat.

It seems invincible as it soars in the sky – and, once Friedrich has formed it from stainless steel, it is. Like the golden eagle, Friedrich has a keen eye: he has not missed a single detail in this sculpture.

The mountains of the Texel Group are home to South Tyrol’s largest ibex colony, numbering over 500 animals. The Alpine ibex roams between treeline and glaciers: the 2.20 metre high sculpture in Friedrich’s workshop is meanwhile awaiting a new habitat.

The project to reintroduce the bearded vulture to South Tyrol prompted Friedrich to immortalise this bird in stainless steel. The artist’s dedication is reflected in the sculpture’s wingspan – almost three metres – and its 1,888 individually crafted feathers.

Over 800 hours of work and three years have gone into the making of a life-size red deer out of stainless steel. The “king of the forest” can now bellow confidently for all eternity into the air. The power of nature – made tangible by Friedrich.

Friedrich has faithfully reproduced the long-eared owl, a symbol of wisdom and intuition, in a 35 cm high stainless steel sculpture. Now, as in real life, it looks around curiously from a tree trunk.

This nimble little animal can flit from the ground to the treetops in no time at all. Friedrich has moulded a squirrel from stainless steel – complete with its bushy tail of individually formed stainless steel threads.

The marmot’s whistle is an acoustic symbol of the high Alpine mountains. It is therefore no surprise that Friedrich has recreated this rodent in stainless steel, positioned on a stone and true in every detail.

A silent hunter by night, the eagle owl was once seen as a bringer of misfortune. Today it instead symbolises wisdom and mysticism. Made of stainless steel, it sits in its nest in an old pine tree stump, together with a young bird and two eggs. A symbol of the forest’s tranquillity, the wood of the stone pine is often used in interiors for its calming effect.

Indoor pieces

The embodiment of faith, seen from a new perspective: in Friedrich’s work, Christ seems to be embedded in the cross, almost merging with it. In this way, the link between the earthly and the divine is once again emphasised.

The world’s fastest land animal, the cheetah is graceful and slender – a predator through and through. Friedrich captures in stainless steel the tension of the moment before the chase begins: life-size and with impressive accuracy.

One of the largest predators on land, this creature is silent and elegant, yet at the same time strong, muscular and sizable. Fascinated by its grace, Friedrich has recreated the tiger in stainless steel – life-size and true in every detail.

Friedrich drew inspiration for this work from the Hollywood classic “Black Swan”: a ballerina in steel who seems to dance to her own music. A small and detailed work that is dynamic and has great expressiveness.

With her closed eyes, devout expression, outstretched arms and upright posture, it is almost as if the woman is concentrating with every one of her senses. With its rough steel surface, this sculpture symbolises grace.

This luminaire, some two metres high, is made of Swiss stone pine from the mountains of the Passeier valley, in combination with Passeier gneiss, stainless steel and a base plate of black slate. It pays homage to the natural world of the valley, all while enhancing interiors thanks to the pine wood’s calming effect.

For this table, Friedrich took a piece of larch root from the Timmelsjoch Pass to his workshop, where he turned it into the base for a 60-cm high table: the tabletop is of glass, while the base plate is of stainless steel.

Accessories

Jewellery can stand for love, for friendship, for memories. In addition to animal sculptures and abstract works, Friedrich also creates delicate stainless steel jewellery: a bracelet, a pendant for a necklace, a ring, a brooch... the possibilities are endless, as is the pleasure of giving or wearing them!

A sign of acceptance into the Christian community and a symbol that godfather or godmother is watching over the child being baptised. A baptism chain might accompany us for a lifetime – and, made from stainless steel, it is up to the task.

An accessory that does not necessarily have to be made of fabric. A stainless steel tie is undoubtedly an eye-catcher – and timeless besides.

Ein extravagantes Accessoire zu einem schlichten Anzug: Die Fliege verleiht dem festlichen Outfit das gewisse Extra – vor allem, wenn sie in Handarbeit aus Edelstahl geformt wurde.

The artist wants to give something back to our natural habitat and, with his sculptures, create a monument.
